WHEN TO GO TO THE GYNECOLOGIST?
The first visit to the gynecologist is a situation of fear for many young people due to ignorance of this type of medical consultation. However, it is something necessary and completely normal that you should do on a regular basis. There are at least 4 situations for the first consultation:
The arrival of the first menstruation: although it is not a mandatory visit, it may be a good idea to go to the gynecologist when your first menstruation appears, since he can advise you on all issues related to sexuality and on the changes that occur in your body when the first period appears.
First sexual intercourse: if you plan to start or have already had your first sexual intercourse, it is very important that you go to the gynecologist to perform an evaluation and verify that everything is fine and that you are completely healthy. It will also guide you about sexuality and risk behaviors.
The contraceptive pill: if you want to start taking the contraceptive pill it is very important that you go to the gynecologist or midwife to tell you if it is recommended that you take it and if so, what pill you should consume, what are its advantages and disadvantages and How should you take it?
Irregularities: On many occasions, young girls have very irregular periods. So, although sometimes it is something completely normal, if you see that your rules have too many irregularities it is a good idea to visit your gynecologist to explain if it is normal or if it is due to a specific medical issue.
